Buy From Yahoo! Auctions Japan. We Bid, Pay, and Receive It There — You Just Get the Package.

Yahoo! Auctions is Japan's biggest auction site, and for collectibles it's a different world from anything on the US or even the Japanese eBay-style sites — vintage model trains, retro game consoles and cartridges, idol and anime merchandise, model kits, and camera gear that often never gets listed anywhere an American buyer would normally see it. The entire site is in Japanese, which is the first wall most US buyers hit.

The second wall is registration: to place a bid at all, you need a Yahoo Japan ID verified with a Japanese mobile phone number, and a Japan-based payment method linked to it — a Japanese bank account or a Japanese-issued credit card. A US phone number and a US card don't get you in the door. There's no checkout to try and fail at — you can't even place the bid.

And bidding itself is time-boxed: listings close at a specific date and time in Japan Standard Time, often with a flurry of last-second bids in the closing seconds. Watching that from a US time zone usually means bidding at 2 or 3 a.m., or missing the close entirely. Even if you clear both of those walls, a meaningful share of individual sellers mark their listing "国内発送のみ" — domestic shipping only — and some explicitly refuse to deal with resale or forwarding services, which a plain package-forwarding address can't tell you until after you've already won and paid.

How It Works

  1. 1

You send us the listing and your maximum bid.Paste the Yahoo! Auctions link and tell us the most you're willing to pay — that's the ceiling we bid up to, never past it without checking with you first.

  2. 2

We check the listing before bidding anything. Some sellers state they won't ship to a forwarding or resale address, or restrict shipping to domestic Japan only. We read the listing in Japanese and flag anything that looks like it'll block us, before you're committed to a bid.

  3. 3

We bid on your behalf from a verified Japan-registered account, timed to the auction's close in Japan Standard Time.If someone outbids you below your ceiling, we rebid; if the auction closes above your ceiling, we stop and you've paid nothing.

  4. 4

If we win, we pay the seller the way Yahoo! Auctions requires — bank transfer or a Japan-linked payment method. This only works because we're bidding and paying from a Japan-based account — a US card or address can't complete this step on its own.

  5. 5

It's received at our address in Japan.Inspection is available if you want it — just ask, and before it ships we'll confirm it's the item described and check for obvious damage, a match-and-condition check, not a functional test. If you skip this, it goes straight to packing.

  6. 6

We pack it — standard protective packaging, reinforced for fragile items, or custom crating/palletizing for oversized pieces on request (may cost more) — then weigh it and send you a separate invoice for shipping. That's billed separately from your original quote, since it depends on the actual weight and size once it's packed.

  7. 7

Once that's paid, we ship it to your US address, usually via DHL, in about 7–14 days. That's a typical range, not a guarantee — customs and carrier delays happen.

  8. 8

Customs duties are paid on delivery, and we provide the customs paperwork. This is a cash-on-delivery-style charge from the carrier when your package arrives — not something we can prepay or fold into our quote, so budget for it separately.

Pricing

Our service fee is 8–15% of the final winning bid, with a $20 minimum, on top of what you pay the seller — the exact rate depends on the specifics, so you'll see the real number on your quote. Because this is an auction, we only know the final price once the bidding closes; if we don't win, nothing is charged. Shipping and packaging are billed separately once we know the actual weight and size (see step 6) — they're not part of this quote.

If it doesn't go through:

  • We don't win the auction — outbid past your ceiling, or the listing turns out to exclude resale/forwarding buyers before we bid — nothing is charged, including our service fee.
  • Cancel after we've already won and paid on your behalf — we refund whatever the seller refunds us; our service fee isn't refunded, since the sourcing work is already done.
  • The item turns out to be un-exportable, or customs rejects it — we refund the purchase price minus any costs already incurred, and tell you exactly what those were.

Refunds go back through Stripe to your original payment method, typically 5–10 business days. Shipping and packaging fees are refundable until the parcel is dispatched — once it's with the carrier, they're not.

What We Buy

We focus on antique, vintage, and collectible items on Yahoo! Auctions — vintage model trains and railway memorabilia, retro game consoles and cartridges, camera and lens gear, idol and anime merchandise, model kits and die-cast figures. Those are exactly the categories where Japan's domestic auction market runs deeper than anything listed for a US audience, and where getting the bidding, payment, and language right actually matters.

Why This Works

We're already set up to bid and pay on Yahoo! Auctions from a Japan-registered account with a Japan receiving address — the two things a US buyer can't get around on their own — so we can check a listing for forwarding restrictions, bid within Japan Standard Time, and pay the seller the way the platform expects, before anything has to make the trip to the US.

FAQ

Registration requires a Japanese mobile phone number and a Japan-linked payment method, which a VPN doesn't get you — it's an identity and payment requirement, not a geographic block.

Some listings say so explicitly — we check for that before placing any bid and tell you if a specific listing is excluded, rather than finding out after you've already paid.

We rebid automatically up to the maximum you gave us. If the price goes past that ceiling, we stop and nothing is charged.

Nothing is charged — you only pay if we actually win the item.

Credit or debit card, Alipay, or WeChat Pay, all through Stripe's hosted checkout. For large or unusual orders, we may arrange a wire transfer instead.

If it turns out to be significantly not as described, we'll step in and communicate with the original seller on your behalf. Any return depends on that seller's own policies — sales are considered final once we've purchased on your behalf, return shipping is your responsibility, and we can't guarantee the outcome.

No — we confirm the item matches the listing and check for obvious damage, but we don't power things on or run a functional test. For vintage electronics and game consoles especially, that's worth knowing going in.

Shipping alone typically runs 7–14 days once we have the item — the auction itself runs on its own closing schedule, which varies listing to listing.
