Designed to haul a wide variety of liquid loads, tank cars have been a crucial element of freight railroading since the pioneer era, hauling water, oil, and other commodities that were invaluable for shaping the nation. These single-dome examples represent some of the last cars built with a riveted tank design, delivered between the late 1920s and early 1940s before welded construction became more commonplace. Found across North America for the rest of the 20th century, our model represents cars in both their heyday, serving private owners, and later in life, when remaining examples were rolled into maintenance-of-way service to provide a water supply for maintenance operations on Class I railroads. Some cars operating in this capacity could continue to be found into the 21st century. Bachmann's track-cleaning car provides an efficient and economical way to clean your track. This car's exclusive dry cleaning system features a reusable track cleaning pad. (Track Cleaning Replacement Pads, Item 16949, available.) Features include: • Fully assembled and ready-to-run • Diecast cleaning pad holder with flexible plastic arms attached to interior axles • Removable, dishwasher-safe dry cleaning pad • Track Cleaning Replacement Pads, Item 16949, available • Detailed, painted bodies with precision graphics • Open underframe • Separately applied ladders, brake wheel, and metal handrails • Added weight for optimum tracking • Magnetically operated E-Z Mate® Mark II couplers • Detailed trucks with see-through sideframes • Blackened metal wheels with RP25 contours • Product Measurements: L 6.3 in., W 1.4 in., H 2 in. • Place behind any locomotive and run on your layout to easily clean light amounts of grime, dirt and dust on your track • Retail Package Measurements: L 7.25 in., W 1.75 in., H 3.4 in HO scale rolling stock from Bachmann Trains.
